Press ReleaseCeterus Networks Launches All-Optical Solution, Expanding Its Carrier-Class Ethernet Transport OfferingsNew UTS4000 series enables Native Ethernet and TDM Pseudowire Delivers “Intelligent Ethernet Today”RICHARDSON, Texas – June 11, 2008 – Ceterus Networks, a provider of flexible transport systems for next-generation cell tower backhaul and enterprise data applications, today launches an all-optical solution as part of its Universal Transport System (UTS) family of carrier-class native Ethernet products. Premiering at next week’s NXTcomm08 in Las Vegas, the new UTS4000 series offers purpose-built solutions for the transport of native Ethernet traffic with the same exceptional level of carrier-class reliability and performance delivered by the rest of Ceterus’ UTS product family. The Ceterus UTS4000 series delivers converged Ethernet and T1/E1 pseudowire services over Native Ethernet transport solutions, with flexible configurations supporting client Fast Ethernet, GigE, private management ports, and up to 24 T1/E1 lines. Architected to Metro Ethernet Forum standards, the Ceterus UTS4000 product family can interoperate with any standards compliant transport or aggregator, easily integrating into any wireless carrier, LEC, AAV, or IXC Native Ethernet network, including Ethernet over SONET, Ethernet radio, direct on fiber, or OADM systems. “The UTS4000 series ties together performance elements the market needs, and it does so in a carrier-class offering that reflects the high-quality architecture, technology and industry knowledge for which Ceterus is known,” said Dave Stehlin, president and CEO of Ceterus Networks. “The UTS4000 further expands our ability to deliver ‘Intelligent Ethernet Today’ to carriers and enterprises that need a highly reliable, cost-effective and easy-to-implement Ethernet transport solution. The combination of our new optical Ethernet series with our market leading circuit bonding family gives our customers the right combination of product, performance and payback as they build next generation Ethernet services and networks.” At the typical cell site, there are from three to six service providers using multiple technologies including 2G, 3G and now 4G services. Support for this multi-client, multi-technology space requires converged Ethernet and high performance pseudowire for the T1s that remain for an extended period. The UTS4000 series is purpose built for cell-site backhaul with differentiators including:
Customized for enterprise, wholesale access and cell-site backhaul, the Ceterus UTS4000 series offers several configurations. All products are carrier infrastructure grade – including being temperature and humidity hardened, 1588v2 and synchronous Ethernet capable – and provide class of service and security for multi-customer applications. Six products comprise the new Ceterus UTS4000 series; purpose built to best match the needs of carriers and service providers. For enterprise Ethernet applications, the Ceterus UTS4200 family has three models; the UTS4200, UTS4208 and UTS4224 with 0, 8 or 24 T1/E1 ports respectively. For cell-site backhaul, the Ceterus UTS4300 family has a Stratum 3 clock for high performance T1/E1 pseudowire and synchronous Ethernet and comes in three models: the UTS4300, UTS4308 and UTS4324 which support 0, 8 or 24 T1/E1 ports. Other important applications that either the 4200 series or 4300 series can be used for include infrastructure backhaul for IP DSLAMs, or Colo aggregation of IP DSLAMs and remote DLCs (digital loop carriers) or BLCs (broadband loop carriers). Ensuring that the access network evolves in lock step with the global network architecture, Ceterus’ “Intelligent Ethernet Today” philosophy delivers the right amount of capability at the right time for wireless services backhaul and enterprise access while providing the ability to upgrade without equipment change out as the network evolves. Ceterus Networks at NXTcomm08 Mark McDonald, vice president of product management for Ceterus Networks, will be moderating an MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) panel on Mobile Backhaul at NXTcomm08 on Wednesday, June 18, 3:30-4:15 at SL4409.
