[STUDY]
COVID-19 Financial
Impact on the
Dental Industry

Like other industries, the US dental industry was severely negatively affected by the
2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent shut-downs and mandated operating
changes. Among changes in patient behavior, office processes and closing, most
firms experienced a high loss of revenue and profitability during the worst of the
panic and shutdowns. Emergency government loan programs ameliorated these
effects for many, creating some complex decisions to be made in the future.

In this study, Ceterus analyzed accounting data from dental practices across the US for the first six months of 2019 and 2020 to note notable differences between the two years in
areas such as Net Operating Income, collections, cash-flow, government loans, and
expenses.
